Call this fate or luck, but singer Shibani Kashyap isn’t complaining. The singer, who was in town to walk the ramp for her friend and designer Jattinn Kochhar at the recently concluded Bangalore Fashion Week, has now ended up recording her first ever song for a South Indian language. The Zinda Hoon Main singer recorded with Kannada music composer Gurukiran for one of his upcoming soundtracks.

“It was completely by chance that this deal happened. I caught up with my friends in Bangalore after performing at the fashion week and was then planning on taking off the next day.

Gurukiran heard from my friends that I was in town and called me. I was surprised when he said that he wanted to record a song with me. Naturally, I changed travel plans to be able to record for the song,” says Shibani, who’s extremely delighted about the whole experience.

The singer was quite excited about the turn of events as she’s always wanted to sing for South Indian films. “It is the first time ever that I have sung in a South Indian language,” gushes Shibani. She’s recorded a song named Garam Masala for director MD Shridhar’s Tippu, which stars Kannada actors Aditya and Ragini Dwivedi.

“It wasn’t tough to record the song at all. I’ve recorded songs in Bengali and French before. So, language isn’t really a big issue for me,” says Shibani.
