But there’s word she’s recuperating in London and won’t be back in a hurry.
After a promising comeback two years ago, Shivani Kapur seems to have disappeared again from the Indian fashion circuit. The model, who suddenly left for London after falling ill in June 2005, was supposed to be back last August. But sources say that she is still recuperating and her return to the country may take more time than expected.
Confirms Anil Chopra, VP, Lakme Lever, “Shivani is ill and is living with her family in London. Since she’s still not feeling better, she won’t be doing the fashion weeks this time as well,” adding that the model will continue to be under a contract with Lakme.
In 2005, Shivani took part in the Lakme Fashion Week in April as well as did a show for designer Ranna Gill at the Delhi Fashion Week. There were strong rumours of her being signed on by Sanjay Leela Bhansali for a movie.
Before her vanishing act, the model was linked with several men, including designer Rocky S and actors Upen Patel and Sikander Kher. Rumours of her alleged drug problem resurfacing also started doing the rounds.
However, Lakme has decided to stand by their model, as Chopra says, “The doors here are always open for her. She is absolutely welcome to come back and work with us as and when she is fit to do the same.”
