One of the most anticipated films of the year '2.0' finally hit the theatres on November 29. The excitement is on an all time high as this is for the first time that the two superstars Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar are sharing screen space. S.Shankar's extravagant sci-fi fantasy thriller is made on a whopping budget of Rs 550 crore which is the highest for any Indian movie.
However, the makers were in for a major shock as TamilRockers, an active piracy website, leaked the entire movie online in HD print, hours after it released in theatres. The makers had apparently deployed a separate team to monitor the online piracy. Reports suggest that, before the release of the film, producers of 2.0 had approached the Madras High Court with a list of nototrious websites.
The anti-piracy team headed by actor Vishal, had submitted a list of all the online websites that leaks the pirated version of the newly released movies to the state government. The state government had duly blocked most of the websites but were not able to bring down the TamilRockers, reports India Today. The same website had earlier leaked Dhanush’s 'Vada Chennai' and Vijay’s 'Sarkar' as well.
The film has opened to an overwhelming response in the theatres worldwide but received mixed reactions from the movie critics. The film talks about the harmful effects of radiation emanating from cell phone towers. A sequel to Enthiran (2010), 2.0 is the most expensive Indian film. Rajinikant is seen reprising the role of Dr. Vaseegaran and Chitti, while Akshay Kumar plays a negative role of Dr.Richard in the film. The film also stars Amy Jackson, Sudhanshu Pandey and Adil Hussain in vital roles.
