Bollywood actress Sunny Leone reportedly slapped a reporter in Surat and her husband Daniel Webber was quoted saying that she would ‘think a thousand times before coming to Gujarat again’
Apparently, the incident occurred at a Holi event after the reporter asked her how much she charged for ‘night programmes’ now that she is a movie star, reports mid-day. He was quoted saying: “You were a porn star earlier, now you are a film star. So how much do you charge now?”
When she got angry after hearing the question and asked the reporter to repeat it, he said: “How much do you charge for a night program?” This made her angrier and she slapped the reporter in front of the hotel staff and went back to her room.
The actress was in Surat for the event titled Play Holi with Sunny Leone and after the incident, organisers were worried but Sunny was completely professional as she danced to Bollywood numbers for 15 minutes. She did tell the organisers she’d perform only if there was no media inside.
Even before the slapping incident, a drunk man reportedly entered her hotel room. Her husband told mid-day: “Sunny has given an apt reply to the reporter so we are not filing any police complaint. The organisers were also college kids so we do not want their careers to be damaged. But henceforth, Sunny will think a thousand times before coming to Gujarat.”
A media report suggested that Sunny Leone had slapped a reporter for asking how much she charged for ‘night programmes’. According to a mid-day report, the reporter asked “You were a porn star earlier, now you are a film star. So how much do you charge now?” When she got angry after hearing the question and asked the reporter to repeat it, he said: “How much do you charge for a night program?” This made her angrier and she slapped the reporter in front of the hotel staff and went back to her room.
However, Sunny Leone denied the story on Twitter saying as she replied to mid-day’s Twitter handle saying: “Such lies.”
Sunny Leone’s husband Daniel Weber told Huffington Post: "That story is complete and utter nonsense. We've called up mid-day about it, and they've told us they're going to issue an apology for publishing a completely false story." He added that: “Nothing happened at all. We went there, we did the event, and we came back. There were no reporters there [at the event] at all."
Sunny Leone was in the midst of a raging controversy a couple of months ago after she participated in an interview which was deemed misogynist.
In the interview, which has garnered a lot of negative attention on social media and flak from Bollywood celebrities, Sunny, a former adult star, was asked whether Aamir would want to work with her and she had said, "Probably not." Sunny faced it sportingly, and it is this spirit which impressed Aamir, who later tweeted that he would be happy to share screen space with her. "I think anybody in the entire world would like to work with an actor like him. He is someone for whom I have immense respect. Regardless of what happens in the future, I will always be Aamir's fan. I have always said that I am a fan of Aamir and I always watch his movies," she said.
Most of Bollywood, including Aamir Khan came out in support of the actress.
