Buy a premium designer product and help a child in distress. Here’s how you can do it

Mumbai’s social conscience will once again be on show today with the city’s crème de la crème leading from the front for a cause that pledges to save our needy children. And what better than a one-day shopping soiree to attract the growing breed of financial empowered Mumbai-ites!

Today, France’s leading winemakers Bouvet Ladubay (now owned by Vijay Mallya’s UB Group), along with the late Vipula Kadri’s daughters Mana Shetty and Isha Mehra, is putting on sale products by the country’s premium lifestyle designers at Araaish. The proceeds will go to Kadri’s pet cause - Save The Children Foundation.

Says Mana, “It’s a sentimental journey for us to work towards a cause which our mother founded. The reason we decided to co-host such an event now, closer to Diwali, is because we wanted it to be more meaningful and fortunately for us, all it took was one phone call to get the designers to participate willingly.”

Among the several designers lending their support to the cause is Twinkle Khanna, who, besides her festive collection of furniture and accessories, will also be debuting a children’s line of furniture at Araaish.

Explaining her reasons for participating in this event, Twinkle says, “Despite having the will and means, sometimes one simply doesn’t know how to go about helping people.

With this event, I knew the money would be in safe hands and go to the kids who really need it.”

What added to her enthusiasm was the fact she, herself, is a mother. “When you have your own kids, somehow the plight of other children touches you more,” she says, adding that while she doesn’t believe in showing off her charitable side, she decided to go public for this event to encourage others to participate.

Among a list of Diwali offerings will be jewels by Queenie Dhody, contemporary wear by Mana and Isha, fashion by Anna Singh and Cue - Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna etc. besides products made by the children of  Save the Children Foundation.

So Mumbai, bring out your wallets and head to the Blue Sea today and show our kids you care!
