The Danny Boyle film Slumdog Millionaire, which won eight Oscars, has done the country proud, lead lady Frieda Pinto's father said here on Monday.
"The film has done everyone and the country proud," Frederick Pinto, a senior executive with the Bank of Baroda said.
Asked for his reaction over his daughter featuring in the award-winning film, he said he was delighted at the success of the film and was proud of Frieda's achievement.
Frieda's mother Sylvia Pinto is principal of a high school in suburban Goregaon.
The Pintos belong to the Mangalorean Catholic community. Frieda, born in October 1984, has done her BA in English Literature from St Xavier's College here.
