I don’t have any inhibitions essaying a parental figure but I can’t play an old, bent, weak, coughing father because I am not like that

Suniel Shetty is itching for a meaty role and money is far from a concern. In fact, for him, remuneration was never the focus. The actor, who will be seen in a grey role in the sequel to Bang Bang, titled Reloaded, says, “It’s always been like that ever since I started out. One thing has changed about me from before — earlier I was always more into maintaining relationships. If somebody close to me came and convinced me to do their film, I would do it out of friendship. But now I don’t want to be taken for granted. I will only do it, if it’s a fantastic role. My children Athiya and Ahaan are in movies and I have a lot of things to look forward to. After three years, I am doing Reloaded and it’s a strong role befitting my persona. And I am excited.”

He stresses he’s not looking for the main lead today. “I would love to play a well-written, strong character. I am at an age where I don’t expect people to offer me hero roles but it should be in sync with my persona. I would love to play a father’s role and to Athiya as I am old enough to look like one. I don’t have any inhibitions essaying a parental figure but I can’t play an old, bent, weak, coughing father because I am not like that. I am a strong and confident individual in real life. When I don’t act, I like to evolve and keep in touch with my craft by being physically fit and watching movies,” he adds. Shetty loved watching Kaabil, Raees, Dangal and Jolly LLB.
