If the Kollywood grapevine is anything to go by, Suriya’s big-budget action extravaganza in Kaappaan and Prabhas' mega-budget action thriller Saaho may lock horns with each other for the Independence Day weekend at the South Indian box-office.
The shooting of Kaappaan is currently progressing at a brisk pace and the film will have Suriya sporting five different looks. Produced by Lyca Productions and directed by KV Anand, Kaappaan also stars Mohanlal, Arya, Sayyeshaa and Boman Irani in important roles. The team recently roped in actress Poorna for a pivotal role in the movie, which will have music composed by Harris Jayaraj. Ace editor Anthony is already believed to have locked the first draft of the film.
Meanwhile, the makers of Prabhas’ action entertainer Saaho are also eyeing the same Independence Day weekend release for their multi-lingual project. The team is currently shooting some final portions at a set erected at the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. Sources say the team is planning to reveal a glimpse of the film on the occasion of Shraddha Kapoor's birthday on March 3 since Saaho marks her debut in Telugu cinema.
Earlier, art director Sabu Cyril recreated the entire Bandra-Worli sea link for an action sequence. Saaho has been under production since a long time and the makers are confident about the Independence Day weekend release. The film is being directed by Run Raja Run fame Sujeet.
