They say, ‘When in Rome, do as the Romans do’. But for Sushant Singh aka Manav of Zee TV’s Pavitra Rishta, it has become a tough task. Since the show’s story revolves around typical middle class Maharashtrian families, the show mostly has Marathi actors. And this has become a huge problem for Sushant.
On the sets, most of the prominent actors like Ankita Lokhande, Savita Prabhune, Usha Nadkarni, Priya Marathe, among others always converse with each other in Marathi. Not only do they chat in the local language among themselves but also with the crew members. Needless to say, Sushant who isn’t a Maharashtrian doesn’t understand anything of what they are saying. He ends up being very frustrated and annoyed with his co-stars because of this behaviour.
Says a unit member, “Since Sushant doesn’t know Marathi, he requests them many a times to speak in Hindi so that he can comprehend what they are saying. He feels horribly left out as he cannot participate in their jokes and discussions. They gang up and tease him. With so much of leg pulling, he gets very irritated.”
Sushant says, “While it’s nice to see everyone bonding so well, a lot of times these guys team up against me and start pulling my leg. I wonder what they are talking about and whether they are teasing me. I just get frustrated and ask them to talk in Hindi but they just don’t budge. A lot of time I use my acting skills and storm out of the room to convey that I am seriously irritated. But they continue the same thing after a few hours!”
Is Usha getting too pushy?
While Usha Nadkarni gives her serious pain in the show, she inadvertently is the reason for Ankita Lokhande’s real life troubles as well.
Recently a shot required Ankita to be pushed out of her in-laws’ house by her mother-in-law (played by Usha Nadkarni). Usha unintentionally happened to push her so hard that Ankita fell down, hurting her elbow!
When asked if she settled her score, Ankita says, “It isn’t her fault. She is so sweet that she has been giving me sweets to make up .”
