Though his debut film, Nadunisi Naaygal in Tamil, might have found mixed reviews at the box office, critics and audiences didn’t quite write Veera off! As a matter of fact, his spectacular performance in the movie got him a fabulous project, Thanga Meengal, which will be directed by Ram of Kattradhu Thamizh fame.
While there were reports claiming that Ram himself would play the lead role, Veera clears the speculation. “I am playing the lead role in Thanga Meengal. Though it’s a love story, the premise of the script is very different. When Ram came up the story line, I was more than convinced about taking up this project,” begins Veera.
They are yet to finalise the female lead and will commence the shoot from this December. Talking about how this offer came up, he says, “Ram and I are good friends and we were discussing a couple of scripts for quite some time. He’s a fabulous director and one person I wanted to work with. This script, however, enticed me to work with him and we went ahead right away.”
Despite the fact that his debut movie received mixed reviews at the box-office, Veera didn’t let it upset him. “The movie was made for a specific set of audience and we were prepared for the mixed response. It did have few critical reviews, nevertheless it didn’t upset me. The movie was made with a given budget and we covered it. Moreover, I was lauded for my performance and that’s what got me this project. I owe it all to Gautham (Menon),” says Veera.
So, what kind of roles he’s interested to play? “An actor cannot be bigger than the movie. At this stage, I would like to leave this to the directors’ choice on what kind of stories they want to do with me. Though I came into this industry seven years back, there are only certain things that you could do as an actor. There are lots of young actors who debuted around the same time as I had. and everyone has dreams of reaching the top slot. I would just like to be part of movies that are close to my heart and that I believe in,” he signs off.
