Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone-starrer Kalki 2898 AD is one of the most-anticipated movies of this year. In a few days, Nag Ashwin's directorial will have a grand release, and now the Telangana government has approved hiked ticket prices and extra shows of the movie for the first eight days of its release.
A representative from the film shared this update on his X (formerly Twitter) and confirmed that the first show of Kalki 2898 AD will be held at 5.30 am in Telangana on release day. The tweet says, “Prabhas Kalki film ticket price hike, Telangana government approves extra shows.”
Sharing a copy of the permit, the tweet further adds, "Ticket price hike is allowed for 8 days from 27th of this month to 4th of July. An increase of Rs.70 in regular theatres and Rs.100 in multiplexes is allowed. On the 27 the show starts at 5:30 am."
Fans' reactions to the price hike for Kalki 2898 AD tickets
Soon after this update, several fans and moviegoers reacted to the new development related to price hikes. Many netizens do point out that a price hike might affect the film's performance, as it is releasing at the month-end of June when parents pay fees for the academic year.
A netizen wrote, "Telugu movie industry is facing a tough time with early OTT releases. Adding exorbitant ticket prices for films like #Kalki is a big no! Who will come to theatres if this continues? Let's keep our cinema affordable and accessible like it's always been. Don’t make movies a luxury."

Kalki 2898 AD also stars Kamal Haasan as the main antogonist along with Disha Patani in the key roles. Kalki 2898 AD will have a grand release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada on June 27.
