‘Sati… Satya Ki Shakti’ spotlights the case of the murdered model
Inspired by real life cases, ‘Sati… Satya Ki Shakti’ (Sahara One) has adapted the Jessica Lal case in the ongoing episodes.
Writer Kamlesh Pandey confirms, “It is a conscious attempt on our part to highlight injustices in society. We have used the Jessica Lal case as a reference point and are trying to focus on the issue through our show. We hope that the exploitation and injustice highlighted will make a difference to society.”
Incidentally, the tapes of the first five episodes which, are being aired now were sent to Jessica’s sister Sabrina Lal in New Delhi.
“I have seen the tapes of ‘Sati…’. I feel the story is loosely based on Jessica’s incident. But the story is quite well made. There is no over dramatisation and no sensationalism. The effort made is quite touching,” says Sabrina.
She further continues, “I have been getting support from all quarters for Jessica’s case. I sincerely hope that through such programmes people are made aware of and sensitive to pertinent issues in society.”
The adapted story spotlights the case of Gayatri (character inspired by Jessica) whose murderers have been let off and how Sati reopens and fights her case.
Mansi Salvi who portrays Sati says, “I believe in the character I portray. Since my school and college days I have always stood up for what I felt was right.”
