'The Jungle Book' box-office collection: Jon Favreau's film becomes second highest opener of 2016

'The Jungle Book' is the second highest opener in 2016 after 'Airlift'.

The Jungle Book released on April 8 and within a day it has set a record of being the second highest opener in India.

It has easily surpassed Ki and Ka, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Ghayal Once Again, Kyaa Kool Hai Hum 3. Walt Disney's The Jungle Book has earned over Rs 10 crore on its opening day at the box office.

Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the box office collection of Jon Favreau's The Jungle Book.

Earlier he had said tweeted, "#TheJungleBook takes an AWESOME start. Audience feedback is SUPER! Fri ₹ 9.76 cr nett. India biz. What's INCREDIBLE is that #TheJungleBook is 2nd HIGHEST OPENER of 2016 *so far*, after #Airlift. Surpassing Bollywood + Hollywood biggies!"

The films stars Neel Sethi in Mowgli's role. The English version has Bill Murrat, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong'o, Scarlett Johansson, Christopher Walken voicing various roles. In Hindi, Nana Patekar, Om Puri, Priyanka Chopra, Irrfan Khan, Rajesh Khattar, Shefali Shah take over.
