He’s friendly with some of the biggest stars in the world, but Shailendra Singh prefers to talk about the road ahead.

At the recently held Laureus Sports Awards, he shared a table with tennis superstars Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. On his way back to India, he stopped over at Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones’ holiday villa in Majorca for a couple of days.

That’s not all — Shailendra Singh has played host to numerous international sports celebrities from Edwin Moses to Boris Becker and Anna Kournikova. But name-dropping is something he’s not very comfortable with. “These are people I have both personal and business relationships with. But I don’t feel the need to tom-tom it,” he says.

His constant interactions with the international celebrities have pushed Shailendra to achieve more. “The likes of Michael Douglas or Boris Becker have inspirational life stories. Meeting them makes me want to go that extra mile. It’s all about learning to play the global game.”

With 26 companies spread over 61 offices in three continents and over 2000 people working for him, Shailendra Singh has no choice but to be a master juggler. As the joint managing director of Percept Holdings, Shailendra manages a wide gamut of marketing and communication activities that his several companies are involved with.

“God knows how I manage to juggle everything,” he laughs. But he has big plans for the future. “Most advertising-communication agencies have come from abroad — we want to reverse that. In terms of movies, Percept Picture Company made 15 films last year. This year, we are up to 29. We are here to leave our mark on anything and everything that we do.”

Married to his childhood sweetheart, Shailendra prefers to play sports, work or party with friends rather then be seen at ‘a social do where the right wine is being served’. “I meet high-profile and glamorous people from across the globe, but I’ve never felt the need to talk about them.”
