As they celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary today, Niranjan Hiranandani gifts wife Kamal a penthouse!
What does the scion of one of Mumbai’s best known construction firms gift his wife on their wedding anniversary? A penthouse, of course. Even as Niranjan and wife Kamal Hiranandani celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary today, one cannot help but admit that the two complement one another all the way.
“In a way, it does feel that it’s been 30 long years and in a way, it feels as though it was yesterday,” laughs Niranjan. “We have been through a lot over the years and she has always been the anchor in my life.” Kamal is quick to add, “Niranjan is my support system. I know I can rely on him for every thing and that he’ll be able to deal with the matter in a calm and composed fashion.”
In a world where the institution of marriage is falling apart, how do the two continue to share the bond? Says Niranjan, “It all boils down to one’s expectations.” Adds Kamal, “Couples should accept each other for what they are and realise that nobody is perfect.”
With daughter Priya and son Darshan settled in the US, one might think that the couple is on a forever ‘honeymoon’, but Niranjan insists that their marriage is much more than togetherness. “Togetherness is just one aspect. What really matters is contributing to each other’s life and growing every single day. Also, our approach to family is very Indian. We believe in a close knit circle of family and friends, which is why we have been together regardless of the distance factor” explains Niranjan.
