'Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki' brings in the 'Woh' (souten) element.
The age-old Rajshri productions which have always been known for their benchmark of family-values and harmonious marital bonding seem to be making a glaring exception this time.
Believe it or not, their current serial 'Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki' (Sahara One) has incorporated a 'silsila' sequence where Soumya (Aamir Ali) who is 'just married' to the charming Pari (Reena Kapoor) has a torrid extra-marital affair with sultry Sanjana (Poonam Joshi) on the sly. Incidentally, the female protagonist, Pari is currently going through this 40-days 'agni-pareeksha' after which she hopes things will be positively cool.
Wasn't this a shock-value of sorts for home-audiences who are used to watching decent family values that Rajshris has been known for over the past several decades? Were they jumping on the band-wagon of promiscuity to boost the TRPs ? Not surprisingly Kavita Barjatya, the chief of Rajshris TV network, is agitated at the charge. But she vehemently defends her serial and banner saying, "We are not glorifying adultery through our serial as Soumya's character is not 'two-timing' his wife, Yes, he is having a passionate affair with 'souten' Sanjana who has always been his original girlfriend even before his wedlock."
"For Soumya, his alliance with Pari is a mere marriage of temporary convenience to circumvent destiny And its more of a 'nuptial trap' for the bride. She encounters discreet vibes that "my husband is 'disconnected' from me" when he plays truant with her even on the 'wedding night'. Although Pari is aware of Sanjana's existence, she presumes its his past," justifies Kavita. "Despite the villainish deviations that may occur, sanskaar, sanskriti and parampara shall continue to reign in all our ventures" she declares.
