Twitter explodes! Music maestro Ilaiyaraaja honoured with Padma Vibhushan by President Kovind

Noted music composer Ilaiyaraaja was among the 42 other prominent personalities from all walks of life were conferred the prestigious Padma awards for 2018 by President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday evening. Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his ministerial colleagues, and several other dignitaries attended the function at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Famous as Isaignani, he was honoured for unparallel contribution to music and Tamil language. Ilaiyaraaja has worked on ancient Tamil Bhakti literature Thiruvasagam has had a profound impact and has composed more than 6500 songs in career spanned over three decades.  Five times National award winner composer, Ilaiyaraaja was awarded with Padma Bhushan back in 2010. 

After debuting in 1975 Tamil film Annakkli as a music composer, Ilaiyaraaja launched the careers of many singers like Chitra, SP Balasubramium and Yesudas. India's biggest superstars like Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan have also sung songs for the legendary music composer.
