Since the teaser of Udta Punjab released on Monday, the excitement levels have risen exponentially. Shahid had posted a selfie on Instagram with a ripped body and speculation was rife about whether this is his look for his upcoming flick and seems like it was!
Shahid will be playing a Punjabi rockstar, Tommy Singh, who gets embroiled in drug controversies. The actor carries the rugged swagger, lingo and style of a rock musician with ease. The actor took to Twitter to post the teaser and a poster.
The film also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh. Alia too tweeted the poster with an interesting hashtag, #drugsdimaadi which took the curiosity to another level altogether!
Directed by Ishqiya and Dedh Ishqiya director, Abhishek Chaubey, Udta Punjab is set to hit screens on June 17. It is based on the drug abuse crisis that has gripped Punjab in the recent times. With such an intense subject, Shahid returns to the serious genre, something fans have always adored him for.
