While most films this year have fizzled out, there has hardly been about half a dozen films which have opened immensely well. No, we aren’t talking about films which opened decently and went on to become surprise hits. For films like a Baby or a Gabbar is Back, Akshay Kumar’s star power ensured a good opening whereas for Dil Dhadakne Do, a heavyweight ensemble worked the magic. Similarly for ABCD 2, the hype and promotions seemed to have done wonders.

Varun and Shraddha went all out to promote the film and given that its predecessor was successful without any star faces, only because of its content and the dance performances, ABCD 2 has expectations riding on it- both commercially and critically. While Remo had taken the risk of introducing dance films as a genre in Bollywood, with ABCD 2 in place, it might not be considered a risk anymore.

The film has showed great occupancy in mass belts, especially in Gujarat, Jaipur, Delhi and the NCR belt. Collections of the film in Mumbai might affect the film severely because of the waterlogging that has slowed the pace of the city. While Mumbai collections might not be up to the mark, thanks to the continuous rain, the film has showed a overall occupancy of 45-50% all over the country, which means it will have a great opening day at the box office.

A double digit figure is expected and if rain stops and Mumbai collections pick up later in the evening shows, the film also has chances to become the biggest opener of the year till now. Akshay’s Gabbar is Back still has the record for the highest opening day collections of 2015, which is in the range of Rs 13 crore. Will ABCD 2 beat Gabbar’s record? Let’s see!
