Director Vetrimaaran's Visaaranai was widely praised across the globe. Now, he has acquired the film rights to Neelima Kota's The Shoes of the Dead, a book that deals with farmers suicides and the politics involved.
Speaking exclusively to dna, Vetrimaaran said that this was a book he felt compelled to make into a film. "I liked this book and decided to acquire the film rights for the book. Like I stated earlier, I will be starting this film only after film with Dhanush," he said.
Ask him whether author Neelima Kota will be co-scripting the film and Vetrimaaran says, "It is too early to talk about the film. Neelima and I will be holding extensive discussions first."
But he does disclose one important fact about the film. "I have still not decided which language to make it in," he says. Probe him further and Vetrimaaran laughs and says that he has not thought about this as of yet. "It will take me three years to start filming this movie," he reveals.
We wonder whether the director plans to make the film in Hindi as farmer suicides and its politics is a national issue and the subject will resonate with all.
