Apocalypse

The daunting task of saving the Earth lies on the shoulders of the X-Men.

The new trailer of X-Men: Apocalypse opens to a single note of Coldplay's song 'Don't Panic' performed by Clarity. The trailer does the exact opposite because the world is on the verge of ending, courtesy Apocalypse.

Bryan Singer is bringing the third installment of the prequels to Fox's popular franchise of X-Men.

.

The story of X-Men: Apocalypse begins when Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), the first and most powerful mutant, who amasses the powers of many other mutants to become immortal and invincible, awakens after thousands of years.

Disillusioned with the world as he finds it, Apocalypse recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), and declares war. He will cleanse mankind and destroy everything they have built in order build a better world with pure mutants (Darwin would be proud at the perfect use of survival of the fittest). The daunting task of saving the Earth in the fashion-challenged 80s lies on the shoulders of the X-Men.

Raven/Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.

In the trailer, Mystique tells the new arrivals at Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, "Forget everything you know. You are not students anymore. You are X-Men." She is right because they have not seen anything like Apocalypse and his four horsemen.

The new trailer gives us a better look at how Apocalypse is resurrected. This trailer seems to have omitted parts from the previous one where they discuss the Bible and Ram, after outrage over the use of deities.

In the movie, we will get background stories of Jean Grey (Sophie Turner of Game of Thrones), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee), Psylocke (Olivia Munn), Storm (Alexandra Shipp) and Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) among others. We also get a promise of one-on-one encounter between Mystique and Psylocke.

The top-billed cast, apart from the mentioned above includes Nicholas Hoult (as Beast), Evan Peters (as Quicksilver), Rose Byrne (as Mira MacTaggert), Lucas Hill (as Havok), Josh Helman (as Stryker), Monique Ganderton (as Death), Ben Hardy (as Angel), Lana Condor (as Jubilee).

Channing Tatum's Gambit will make the first appearance before embarking on a solo movie journey.

The movie is set to release on May 7 adding to the crowded space of summer releases.
