Who is Mia Khalifa: Bigg Boss 9's probable contestant?
Mia Khalifa
It seems like Bigg Boss 9 is set to get a whole lot hotter. But who is Mia Khalifa?
For all the right-wingers, left-wingers, housewives and others who have felt that our society's moral fabric has been irreparably damaged by accepting Sunny Leone as a mainstream actor, they will in for a shock when they hear about Mia Khalifa's entry into Bigg Boss 9.
While Sunny Leone quit porn before entering Bigg Boss, Khalifa is currently the world's most renowned porn star according to Pornhub.com. According to sources who talked to dna,"The channels have approached a lot of people this time. Mia also is one of them. Talks are on with her and she too has shown interest." But has she already given a nod? "The modalities need to be worked out first.”
If Khalifa does turn up, it will be very interesting because she's someone who has managed to irk a lot of people in Lebanon and other Muslim-dominated countries for appearing in porn movies. In fact, it can be said that she created a genre that can be best described as 'hijab porn'.
Who is Mia Khalifa?
She was born in Beirut, Lebanon and moved to the United States of America when she was 10. In 2014, she became the number 1 porn star in the world according to Pornhub.com, and this despite being in the industry for a very short period of time.
Her ranking kicked off quite a controversy and she was vehemently attacked on Twitter for her career. Her attackers even sent her some death threats including a photo-shopped image of her along with ISIS Jihadi John.
“@Muhammaad11: @miakhalifa You do realize that you'll be the first person in Hellfire right?” I've been meaning to get a little tan recently

congratulations, Middle East. What the threats have resorted to: “@UsainAnnan: @miakhalifa coming soon بإذن الله pic.twitter.com/OiXWy9eCaI”

Doesn't the Middle East have more important things to worry about besides me? How about finding a president? Or containing ISIS?

Her videos, in which she sometimes appears wearing a hijab were also cricitised. Khalifa however told the Washington Post that such depictions were satirical. She was quoted saying,"There are Hollywood movies that depict Muslims in a much worse manner than any scene Bang Bros [the production company] could produce."
Speaking about her Lebanon connection, she had said: “They’re embarrassed I’m 'claiming' them – as if I had a choice. I was born there.” Khalifa's parents also stopped talking to her because of this and she was apologetic about that.
“I’ve dragged their name through the mud,” she said. "I feel guilty for dragging them into this and having all their friends know now that it’s on Lebanese media. But that was never my intention.”
She did however receive support from some quarters like British-Lebanese author Nasri Atallah who wrote in a Facebook post: “The moral indignation […] is wrong for two reasons. First and foremost, as a woman, she is free to do as she pleases with her body. As a sentient human being with agency, who lives halfway across the world, she is in charge of her own life and owes absolutely nothing to the country where she happened to be born.” Stand-up comedian Nemer Abou Nassar also tweeted: "Mia we love you! I hope to high five you soon one day." It's important to note that Mia Khalifa is not Muslim. She was quoted saying in an interview: “"I'm not a practising Catholic but I was raised Catholic.”
She literally doesn't give a f*$k
If the Bigg Boss contestants think they can bully this tiny looking girl, they will be in for a shock. because she is someone who won't be cowed down by the criticism. When the controversy about her being a porn star from Lebanon broke out, she had tweeted: ‘Doesn’t the Middle East have more important things to worry about besides me? How about finding a president? Or containing ISIS?" Khalifa had also suggested that the uproar was a sign that all wasn't well in 'liberal' Lebanon.
She told the Post: "Women's rights in Lebanon are a long way from being taken seriously if a Lebanese-American porn star that no longer resides there can cause such an uproar. What I once boasted to people as being the most Westernised in the Middle East, I now see as devastatingly archaic and oppressed.”
Khalifa is also a well-known fan of the Florida State University football team even promising a footballer that if he joined the team, she'd get all her pornstar friends to the games.
Hey, @BraxtonMiller5, if you come to FSU I'll bring all my pornstar friends to the games. #BraxtonToTally

She is also someone who doesn't take anything lying down. When NFL defensive back Duke Williams recently tried to chat up Mia Khalifa via direct messages on Twitter, he never expected her to hang him out to dry in public. She tweeted a screen-shot of the conversation along with the statement: “ Warning: Trespassers in my DM's will be shot and hung out to dry in public.”

It's fair to say that if Mia Khalifa does turn up things are going to get very interesting, inside or outside the house. Wonder how Atul Anjan and his ilk will react then.
