The actor is delighted about not having to grey in ‘Kyunkii...’’s 20-year-leap
TV actor Riva Bubber who plays Damini Virani in ‘Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ has no qualms about aging in the show’s 20-year leap. She reasons, “Fortunately, I was not required to wear grey hair. I knot my hair in a bun for a mature look. Even my body language and dialogues are sober.” But she adds in jest, “What I am worried about is my adopted son Eklavya (Akashdep Saigal) calling me ‘Maa’! Off-screen I am much younger to him.”
After having worked for over five years and more than 1000 episodes for ‘Kyunkii...’ doesn’t she feel the monotony seeping in? Riva refutes it, “The ‘Kyunkii...’ team is my extended family. We spend more than 10 hours on the sets. We share close bonding. Professionally too, the show has won us all global recognition.” She relates, “Whilst recently shopping in London I was wearing a short skirt, something totally different from my traditional screen persona. But within a few minutes a group of NRI girls recognised me as Damini and mobbed me for autographs. That made my day.” Incidentally, Riva is also playing Smriti in Balaji’s ‘K Street Pali Hill’.
Quiz her on why the pretty girl is single and the Cancerian replies, “I am occupied with two dailies. If I have to invest my time with someone, he has to be worthy of me. For me, a guy has to be ‘husband material’, with whom I can share a lifelong commitment.”
