Ismail Darbar may present a cherished award to the contestant as a token of appreciation
Pakistani contestant Amanat Ali, who is participating in the musical show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007’ (Zee), rendered the number ‘Yeh hausla’ (‘Dor’) with such passion and precision that he left all the mentors spellbound.
But the biggest compliment came from Amanat’s mentor Darbar, who announced that Amanat was a contestant, worthy of receiving ‘the special gift’ from him. It maybe recalled that a few weeks ago, Darbar had revealed his intention of giving away his most valuable acquisition of 25 years to the best contestant in the show. Although it is speculated that the special gift could be the one and only award that Darbar has won for composing the music in the film ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, he denied it. Darbar even refused to divulge what the special gift is.
But when asked what makes Amanat so promising, Darbar says, “He can sing difficult songs with ease. Moreover, he has a versatile voice.” He adds, “All the contestants are good; but today it is about being an extraordinary performer. Amanat is extraordinary. I believe that winning and losing a contest is a matter of luck. But if one has the talent, then one can definitely go places.” However, Darbar asserts, “If Amanat wins the contest, then it would be the first right thing to happen in talent shows.”
