After playing around with being a judge on reality shows, self-proclaimed Disco King Bappi Lahiri is back to some serious business. He has lined up a series of international projects with the frontrunners of the US pop scene – The Jackson Five band, rapper Jedda and R&B singer Mýa.
“The concert with the Jackson Five is on this December or January. I just had a talk with Jamie (Jackson). He said that the family was busy with the problems that Michael (Jackson) was facing recently. Now that the dust has settled, they are ready for the India tour. Though Michael won’t be coming, I am flying off to LA next week to convince them that I need Janet to be a part of the troupe. I am hopeful that Janet will agree,” says Bappida, who had earlier managed to convince Samantha Fox to sing and star in a Govinda movie.
Other than the back-to-back Jackson Five concerts in Mumbai and Bangalore, Bappi is gearing up to cut an album with Jedda, the rapper with 50 cents. “I’m in the process of recording the tracks. Jedda will soon record for it and I am sure I will be able to make her come down during the release of the album,” he adds.
The last international project on the anvil is a remix track of his own yesteryear hit Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy…which will be sung in English by R&B star Mýa. “I am coming out with an R&B album and I have convinced Mýa to be a part of it. I have already recorded the song and shot the video in New York. I am also planning concerts with her during the release of the album,” Bappi ends.
