After disappearing from the public eye for almost 18 months, rapper-singer Yo Yo Honey Singh has finally revealed the real reason for his time away from the limelight. In an interview with a leading daily, Yo Yo said that he was holed up in his Noida house, struggling with bipolar disorder and alcoholism.
Speculations had run wild about the disappearance of the 'Blue Eyes' hitmaker when he was not around. Some said he was in rehab for drug overdose, while others said his alleged fall-out with Shah Rukh Khan at a show had deprived him of new projects. But Yo Yo has cleared the air by saying, "I was suffering from bipolar disorder. It went on for 18 months, during which I changed four doctors, the medication wasn't working on me and crazy things were happening."
Although this comes as a huge shock, Honey isn't the first person who's come out in the open and confessed about his disorder. Recently, TV actress Shama Sikander also admitted that she went through severe temperamental changes and then finally realised that she too was suffering from the biploar syndrome.
While struggling with the disorder, Honey Singh says he penned over 50 poems and intends to publish them some day, according to the daily. Honey Singh says his fans should see the dark phase he successfully battled to come out a winner. Yo Yo Honey Singh's next project is a Punjabi action-thriller Zorawar in which he plays a soldier searching for his identity.
