Film: Murali Meets Meera (Kannada)
Director : Mahesh Rao
Cast: Prajwal Devaraj, Reema Vohra, Harshika Poonacha
Rating: ***
This film had a lot of people waiting for it, considering the soundtrack by Abhiman Roy has created quite a furore already. Murali Meets Meera is a brave attempt by Mahesh Rao, reminiscent of some of the new-age alternate Hindi films.
The story is about two strangers, Murali and Meera, who meet perchance. And their journey over 12 hours, where they end up getting to know each other and their lives, is what makes the story of the film. The story reminds one of films like Jab We Met, Anjaana Anjaani and most importantly Ek Chalis Ki Last Local.
Prajwal Devaraj has done a good job. The two girls, Reema Vohra and Harshika Poonacha, are good, though they could’ve paid some attention to their make up and hair. One does get the feeling that there could’ve been someone more seasoned to carry off the multi-layered character of Meera, played by Reema, which would have clinched it for the film. The story is breezy and is quite Gen Next. Good music and a nice storyline — go for this one.
