Rating: **1/2
First-time director Vikramjit Singh brings you Roy, a romantic-thriller and love triangle between a thief, a filmmaker and their love interest.
Roy is a collaborative album with three different music directors Ammal Malik, Ankit Tiwari and Meet Bros Anjjan.
Sooraj Dooba Hai (version 1 & 2) - The song has become the current party anthem. And rightly so (until another one comes around the corner). For a change, it's good to hear Arijit Singh singing happy tunes. Aditi Singh Sharma compliments his voice very well.
.
Tu hai Ki Nahin - The song is sung by Ankit Tiwari, the music director himself. This is just another addition to the long list of his trademark soulful vocals. Apart from the use of a whistle, the song fails to come out of the Galliyaan (Ek Villain) hangover.
.
Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan - Kanika Kapoor is back after Kamlee from Happy New Year. Once again collaborating with Meet Bros Anjjan, this upbeat song is actually fun to shake a leg to.
.
Boond Boond - One wouldn't know how to differentiate between Tu Hai Ki Nahin and this one. Ankit Tiwari needs to come out of the shadows of Aashiqui 2. One thing though, you can easily hear his experiments with the guitar. The arrangements are beautiful, but they fail to sound new.
.
Yaara Re - Thank God it is KK singing this one. Apart from his vocals, there is nothing new even in the composition.
.
Tu Hai Ki Nahin (Unplugged) - Minimalist music actually embraces Tulsi Kumar's voice. A far better version than what Ankit Tiwari sang, the use of the flute is beautiful.
.
Verdict - It's a run of the mill album, except the song Sooraj Dooba Hai currently burning the dance floor.
