Film: Lakshmi (Kannada)
Director: Raghava Loki
Cast: Shivarajkumar, Priyamani
Rating: *1/2
Lakshmi, the first big Kannada release of this year is an action flick. The film starring Shivarajkumar and Priyamani is high on patriotism. Lakshminarayana (Shivarajkumar) is a no-nonsense CBI officer who is entrusted with the task of busting a terror outfit. He is well on his way to cracking the case even when his wife Priya (Priyamani) cheats on him and runs away with a terrorist! How he saves the country despite this twist in the plot makes for the rest of the story.
Director Raghava Loki and Shivarajkumar team up for this film post Satya In Love. And sadly they fail to create a spark even with Lakshmi. The story is stale and the dialogues — over the top. The graphics used in the film also don’t make you go wow. Even Shivarajkumar’s energetic act and Rangayana Raghu’s presence fail to save the show. Music is the other big let down. Just like the film scenes, even the music is generously borrowed. You could do without watching this film if you are not a die hard Shivarajkumar fan. The posters say that the film is high voltage drama, we say it’s just a shock — an unpleasant one!
