Review 'Nandeesha' (Kannada): Anything but a lasting impression

Nandeesha is the last Kannada release of 2012 and given that popular comedian Komal was playing the lead in the film, expectations were bound to be high. After all his previous stint as a hero in Govindaya Namaha was well received.

In the film, Komal plays Nandeesha who is reunited with his family years after they are separated from each other. The reunion which should have ideally bought the family joy, leaves them shocked as Nandeesha is now mentally unstable.

This is also when you start wondering if there has been a case of mistaken identity. Nandeesha which is a remake of Malayalam film Thilakkam has elements of romance, family sentiments, action, but what goes missing is that very thing that Komal is best at — comedy! This man can tickle your funny bone like no one else but surprisingly his home production leaves you asking for more.

None of the other characters who are supposed to make you laugh out loud also succeed much. The script fails an actor like Komal and this time even his pairing with Parul does not work for the film. Parul, however, still manages to makes the most of her role. Characterisation, dialogues and the plot fail to impress you. Hamsalekha’s music does nothing to enhance the mood of the film either.

Nandeesha could have been the perfect grand finale but instead it turns out to be a dampener. This time even Komal fails to
entertain!
