'Tenet' received an excellent advance booking ahead of its release in India.

Christopher Nolan's much-awaited sci-fi thriller Tenet finally made it to the big screens in India on December 4, 2020. The film stars John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh in the lead roles and is based on a twisted time travelling. The show opened to packed houses at IMAX screens in several parts of India with utmost precautions amid the coronavirus pandemic.

As per reports in Box Office India, Tenet opened to Rs 1.1-1.2 crore nett in the domestic market. The website called it the best response since the reopening of the theatres from October. The report also suggested that Tenet managed to sell about 70000 tickets on its first day which is great while looking at the current scenario.

.

Over the past few months, Tenet has been getting a release across the world looking at the safety of the people. Thus this has led to the piracy of the film too. However, looking at the box office numbers on an opening day, the film has indeed received a good response from the masses.

Talking about Nolan's film box office business, trade analyst Girish Johar told Live Mint, "The trade is pretty optimistic about Tenet, given that it has been the global leader in bringing audiences back to theatres despite a muted response in home territory US."

He also shared, "This will definitely be a much-needed change in gear even when compared to new Bollywood offerings such as Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari and could notch up twice or even thrice the occupancy."
