Captain Marvel, which is set to release on March 8, 2019, is a first Marvel Studios project to be fronted by a female superhero.

Larson portrays the character of Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel, a US Air Force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an alien during an accident, which imbues her with the powers of superhuman strength, energy projection, and flight.

The film also features Samuel L Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto and Jude Law, among others.

The movie is already generating a good buzz for Marvel Studios which is seeing a stellar run at the box office in 2018. The footage shown at CineEurope hinted that Brie Larson's Captain Marvel will be leading the Avengers after the ongoing phase of Marve Cinematic Universe (MCU) wraps up.

According to various media reports, the underlying theme of the movie is 'Captain Marvel is about to take the lead in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.'

The logo for the 2019 release was also unveiled at the distributor's exhibit.

Captain Marvel holds the cards to undo what Thanos did in Avengers: Infinity War. Her stand-alone movie and Avengers 4 shall position her one of the crucial superheroes after major names bow out.
