‘Eternals’: Here’s everything about Harry Styles’ Eros aka Starfox, brother of Thanos

The Marvel Cinematic Universe, known for creating diversity in terms of characters, introduces the character Eros aka Starfox in the film ‘Eternals’. Eros, played by English singer-songwriter Harry Styles, is the brother of Thanos, a royal prince of Titan, a knave of hearts, and a defeater of Black Robert.

From his origin and his powers to his connections to the ‘Eternals’, here’s everything you need to know about Starfox/Eros:

Origin of Starfox

According to IGN India, Eros, who is the brother of Thanos in the comics, is also known as Starfox. Thanos is a power-hungry warlord, genocidal. On the contrary, Eros is not a fighter but is a carefree lover. Starfox, who spends his days as hedonistically as possible, made his comic book debut right alongside his brother in 1973’s ‘Iron Man #55’.

Eros was born an ‘Eternal’ on Titan, a fictional location on the moon of Saturn where a group of ‘Eternals’ made their home. With less responsibility, Eros lived a life filled with fun and pleasure. However, everything changed when his brother Thanos became one of the greatest threats to the Marvel Universe. Technically, Thanos is also an ‘Eternal’, however, a recessive Deviant gene caused him to appear monstrous.

Eros snaps out of his carefree life only when Thanos hatches a plan to destroy their home, Titan. He joins the hero Captain Marvel and takes the responsibility. Eros joins Avengers in order to stop his brother who wants to execute his plan to assemble the Infinity Gauntlet.

However, his rocky relationship with Thanos was frequently pushed to the limit when he came to know that his brother killed their mother. 

Eros' Powers

However, Eros has the same attributes as other ‘Eternals’ including longevity, flight, accelerated healing, and super strength, speed, and endurance. The special power that distinguishes him from others is his ‘psionic power to control people’s emotions.' However, this special power doesn't work on his big, purple brother. According to IFN India, Eros’ reputation as a womanizer and his power to cast a love spell has become the talk of the town. 

Eros’ MCU Future

According to the IFN, ‘after teleporting onto the Domo with Pip, he says that he’s in possession of one of the ‘Eternals’ communication orbs.’ Eros tells that his friends are in big trouble to Thena, Druig, Makkari. He further explains that he knows how to find them. It seems that Eros is uniquely poised to help rescue them. As per the magazine, he could be on a secret mission to resurrect his brother.

It's difficult to say that Thanos is actually Eros’ brother like in comics, or not. Though Eros is supposed to be an ‘Eternal’, however, MCU Eternals are a big departure from the comics as they were revealed to be cosmic robots. But, the comic book ‘Eternals’ are living beings.

Therefore, how can Thanos’ brother be synthetic ‘Eternal’ as we all know that the giant purple monster is a real being. Perhaps Eros is a flesh-and-blood alien with a different origin than the comics, not an ‘Eternal’. But either way, he still has a soft spot for his brother even though he fights against him. Eros is all about love, in fact, when Thanos was killed in the comics, he came to his brother’s rescue. Well! For the confirmation, we must wait.
