It's been 3 years since Scott Lang, played by Paul Rudd, took the mantle of Ant-Man from Dr Hank Pym, played by Michael Douglas, in Marvel Cinematic Universe. After that, we also saw him take Steve Roger's side in Captain America: Civil War in 2016. The second instalment of the franchise and Lang's third appearance in total, Ant-Man and The Wasp, is set to hit theatres in India on July 13.
The MCU fanatics who keep tab of all things happening with their beloved superheroes, do not need a refresher course. But the casual viewers who would like to watch another fun Paul Rudd movie should go through this refresher course to understand what happens in Ant-Man and The Wasp.
1. Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne
The original Ant-Man and the Wasp were Dr Hank Pym and his wife Janet van Dyne. During a mission, Janet enters the Quantum Realm to stop a nuclear attack, but she never returns. The incident impacts the relationship between Hank and his daughter Hope, played by Evangeline Lilly. Hank also gives up being Ant-Man until he discovers Scott Lang.
2. Whatever Scott does is for his daughter Cassie
Lang has served prison time because he stole from his evil employers to give back to the customers they had duped. After coming out, Lang tries his best to take the straight route so that he can be part of his daughter's life. But after striking out multiple times, he decides to rob again, only to cross paths with Dr Pym.
3. Pym Particles
Discovery of Dr Pym, who used to work for SHIELD in the 80s, Pym Particles power the Ant-Man and Wasp suits that allow the wearer to shrink or grow big in enormous proportions.
4. Communicating with ants
With the help of a device developed by Dr Pym, Ant-Man can communicate and give orders to ants to co-operate with him. We saw Scott Lang using his little friends to fight the bad people. The next movie will see him jamming with them too.
5. Scott is the only person to have escaped the Quantum Realm
Scott went subatomic to beat Yellowjacket in the first movie. But his daughter's calling brings him back to the normal size. This gives Dr Pym some hope that he can still save Janet.
6. Ant-Man has always had issues with the system
Be it Dr Pym or Scott Lang, Ant-Man loves to stick it to the man. Pym left SHIELD and Lang duped VistaCorp. They also stole tech from Avengers base camp that put Ant-Man on their radar. This is how the Falcon and Hawkeye recruit him to side with Captain America in the 2016 movie Civil War. This is when we saw him become Giant Man. In that avatar, Ant-Man is the biggest and the strongest of all the superheroes.
7. Scott Lang accepts house arrest to be close to his daughter
In the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War. Scott Lang was also put in the high-security prison along with other Team Captain members. In Avengers: Infinity War, we come to know that Lang has accepted house arrest to be close to his daughter Cassie.
8. What happened to Ant-Man after Thanos snapped his fingers in Avengers: Infinity War?
Ant-Man and the Wasp will reveal the answer to this question as the movie is set before the events of Infinity War take place.
