The trend of dubbing for Hollywood movie has gained momentum amongst B-town star. Netflix's Mowgli, directed by Andy Serkis, has scored big names like Abhishek Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Anil Kapoor to voice important characters in the movie.
The motion-capture feature has stellar Hollywood cast that includes, Benedict Cumberbatch, Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Naomie Harris, Peter Mullan, Jack Reynor, Eddie Marsan, and Tom Hollander for the mo-cap/jungle side. Debutant Rohan Chand plays Mowgli. Matthew Rhys and Frida Pinto round off the human side of the intense movie.
The official synopsis of the movie reads - The story follows the upbringing of the human child Mowgli, raised by a wolf pack in the jungles of India. As he learns the often harsh rules of the jungle, under the tutelage of a bear named Baloo and a panther named Bagheera, Mowgli becomes accepted by the animals of the jungle as one of their own. All but one: the fearsome tiger Shere Khan. But there may be greater dangers lurking in the jungle, as Mowgli comes face to face with his human origins.
Taking to their Twitter accounts, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor and others made the announcements.
Abhishek Bachchan who will be voicing Bagheera, character played by Christian Bale in the movie, wrote: "So happy to be a part of a story I have loved all my life. He is ready to do whatever it takes to keep Mowgli alive. Wait for Bagheera in Mowgli: Legend Of The Jungle on @NetflixIndia Dec "
The dark re-telling of Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book engages with the realistic tone of survival. "It's not so much a child's fairy tale. This has a reality to it. There is real consequence," said Serkis.
