The popular perception is that star kids – children of people in the entertainment industry – are born with a silver spoon in their mouths and have everything handed to them on a silver platter. While that may indeed be true for a few cases, it is far from being a universal truth. Case in point – this one star kid, son of one of the biggest superstars around, who has said he has had to ‘scavenge’ for food.
The star kid scavenging for food
David Banda is the son of pop icon and global superstar Madonna, one of the biggest musical acts of the 20th century. Banda is one of Madonna’s six children. The 18-year-old recently made headlines after he discussed his life after moving out of his mother’s house in an interview. In a conversation with The Blast, Banda claimed that he no longer has enough money for food and said he was ‘scavenging’ for food. Banda said that he had worked at an NGO in Malawai teaching kids guitar to earn money for some time. After the comments went viral, Banda issued a clarification that his statement was an exaggeration and that he was in no immediate need of assistance. “I am very happy in my life and I am not living out on the streets, starving!” the 18-year-old wrote on his Instagram Story Sunday, adding, “Please stop worrying everything is good.”
Madonna’s astonishing net worth
Why people were astonished to hear of David Banda’s supposed financial difficulties is because Madonna remains one of the richest and most successful celebs in the world. In a career that has spanned over five decades, the singer-actress has amassed a wealth of $1.2 billion (Rs 10,000 crore) as per Forbes. This makes her one of the richest self-made stars in the world. Regarded as the Queen of Pop, Madonna is the most successful artiste in the history of the US Billboard Hot 100 chart with 44 singles reaching the number one spot on it. She has been the world’s highest-paid musician over four decades. Her popularity has been enhanced by starring roles in films such as Dick Tracy and Evita.
