#BoycottMovieOfProphet trends on Twitter after Muslims discovered Majid Majidi's 2015 film 'Muhammad: The Messenger Of God'

Twitter has a new trend - #BoycottFilmOnProphet. The hashtag is around Majid Majidi's 2015 release called 'Muhammad: The Messenger Of God'. Muslims on the mico-blogging site have been demanding ban on the movie for various reasons.

One reason that a ban is demanded on 'Muhammad: The Messenger Of God', is because, according to a user, filmography is prohibitted in Shia culture. Many others have asked the government to take strict action against the film too.

Take a look:

This is not the first time that the Majid Majidi film has come into trouble. When people had knowledge about the movie the first time in 2015, they issued a fatwa against him. Music composer AR Rahman was also issued a fatwa by a Mumbai-based Sunni organization.

Majid had reportedly defended the film back then, stating that his purpose was 'to change the perspective of the Western audience towards Islam; change the horrible image of Islam created by the Taliban and Islamic State. His motive was to remind the people of the world that Islam is a religion of kindness, peace and love.'
