Casting roster of Tom Cruise 's Top Gun sequel is quickly filling up. In the latest announcements, Jon Hamm and Ed Harris are all set to join Jennifer Connelly, Miles Teller, Glenn Powell and others.
Bill Pullman's son and actor Lewis Pullman is also one of the newest addition to Top Gun: Maverick, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Ed Harris is coming off wrapping up the second season of sci-fi series Westworld. He is nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category for the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards. Hamm was last seen in buddy comedy Tag. He is also part of TV adaptation of Neil Gaiman's book Good Omens.
Pullman's acting credit includes The Strangers: Prey at Night and a part in George Clooney's miniseries adaptation of classic book Catch-22.
Plot details are still kept under tight wraps, but the sequel is said to feature drone technology as it explores the end of an era for dogfighting and fighter pilots.
Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski is set to helm the project which sees the return of Cruise as Maverick.
The original film, released in 1986, has a cult following in Cruise's fans. The actor played the role of Lieutenant Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, a young Naval aviator.
The movie is slated to start shooting in September at San Diego. It is scheduled to release on July 12, 2019.
