Bihar: Nitish Kumar said he has submitted a list of 164 MLAs to Governor and staked a claim to form a new government.
Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has ended his alliance with the BJP and resigned from his post. Nitish Kumar will retain the CM post and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav will take oath as his deputy.
The duo met Bihar Governor this evening and staked a claim to form a government in the state. The JD(U) chief will take the oath as CM at 2 pm on Wednesday for the 8th time.
Following a meeting with the Governor, he said, "We submitted list of 164 MLAs to governor and staked claim to form new government; he will let us know when oath-taking can take place."
Meanwhile, BJP has hit out at Nitish Kumar, saying the mandate in 2020 was for JD(U) and BJP and whatever happened today is a betrayal of Bihar's people.
The RJD had emerged as the single-largest party (79) in the 2020 Assembly elections in which the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won 125 seats- BJP won 74, the JD(U) bagged 43, the Vikassheel Insaan Party got 4 and Hindustan Awaam Party (Secular) bagged 4 seats.
