Gujarat elections are proving to be heartbreak for many Muslim political activists.
It’s strange that even senior IPS officers, who have been singing the saffron tune, such as Shabbir Khandwawala or Abdullah Ibrahim Syed, did not meet Modi’s bar. Crossovers from Congress, Sufi saint Mehboob Ali Bawa and Asifa Khan, have equally failed.

Maharashtrians are unhappy, but they'll vote!
After prolonged discussions, members of the Maharashtrian community in Ahmedabad on Sunday decided not to boycott the upcoming Assembly elections. However, the meet held on Sunday morning also decided to demand from both the major political parties to ask tickets for their candidate in the next elections.
They were unhappy as no candidate of the community was given a ticket to contest in the assembly elections.
“Boycotting elections is the only way through which we can shake up both the parties and let them know that the community is upset,” a representative of one of the many Maharashtrian associations present in the meeting, said.

Sonia Gandhi raises the poll pitch
Dubbing the Narendra Modi-led government as "anti-people", Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on Monday raised the poll pitch alleging the BJP-led dispensation in Gujarat is indulging in "wrong-doings".
"According to news reports, wrong-doings (hera-pheri) are going on (in Gujarat). We have known about CAG reports (talking about corruption). There is large-scale corruption in Gujarat," she told an election rally in Siddhpur.
