On how beneficial is playing the IPL ahead of the World T20.It is beneficial for most players who are going to perform for their country in the Caribbean. It is a great way to get yourself into the Twenty20 format. The competition level here is just like international cricket and it is great.

On the future of 50-over format.I don’t fear for One-day cricket but I think one-day cricket probably is on its way out. It is because everybody wants everything shorter, quicker and faster now. Anything in life, people want it shorter, quicker and faster. They can’t wait long for anything. As a player, I want to play T20 game. I can’t play the 50-over game. It is a long session on the field and it is quite painful sometimes. Sachin has talked about splitting it. One thing I don’t want to happen in Test cricket is pink ball and day/night version because I don’t think it is right.

On Sachin not being in T20 World Cup.He is one of the greatest players ever. Great players can adjust to any format. Opponents would love to play India without Tendulkar. On the run out after a mix up with Virat Kohli.

IPL is a learning curve for youngsters, Indian as well as international cricketers. That was a bit of learning curve for Virat. When you are the man in, you got to sacrifice your wicket and let me carry on with my batting. He should have allowed me to finish off the game in the next over. It took us two or three more overs to finish that game. I was looking to finish off the game quickly. If you look at the points table, there are quite a few teams on 14 points. So run rate is important. That was the way I was looking at it the other night. I kept an arm around him and said this is the reason why I shouted at you a little too loudly. And he said it was fine. Probably me and Virat are tightest of the friends in the team and so I could afford to be honest with him which is great.

On the future of players like Virat, Robin and Vinay.I see a good future for these three in particular. Virat and Robin weren’t included in the squad for World T20. So they have aspirations of playing for India. Virat has come a long way with his game in the last couple of years especially with the short ball. Robin is ridiculously talented. Vinay Kumar is one of the hardest working and the nicest guys going.
