Indian troops clashed with the Chinese army personnel in Ladakh's Galwan Valley on Monday due to a situation that escalated into an unprecedented border crisis between the two countries.
Government sources said nearly 20 soldiers from the India side lost their lives and the number is likely to rise, The Chinese side has suffered a similar number of casualties in the incident, sources said.

"During the de-escalation process in the Galwan Valley, a violent face-off took place last night with casualties. The loss of lives on the Indian side includes an officer and two soldiers. Senior military officials of the two sides are currently meeting at the venue to defuse the situation," the Army said in their official statement.
