J Jayalalithaa sworn in as Tamil Nadu CM for second consecutive term

She becames CM for the fourth term.

AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa has been sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. 

Jaya proved the exit polls wrong to come back to power winning 134 seats in the 234 member assembly. 

This is for the first time since the death of former chief minister  MGR, in 1987 that a party has returned to power for a consecutive second term in Tamil Nadu.

The swearing in ceremony was held at the Centenary Auditorium at the Madras University at 12 noon.

Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah administered the oath of office to the Chief Minister and 28 members of the cabinet. AIADMK MLA and former MP Semmalai will be the pro term speaker for the 15th Assembly.

DMK Party's treasurer MK Stalin also attended the ceremony. Earlier on May 21, Jayalalithaa met state Governor K. Rosaiah on where she staked the claim to form the government.

Jayalalithaa went completely 'green' this election and now she has carried forward the tradition in the swearing-in ceremony.

After wearing only green sarees in the campaign, now she signs to formally take charge as the CM again using a green pen with green ink!

Senior political leaders such as Venkaiah Naidu, Pon Radhakrishnan and  Opposition leader DMK’s MK Stalin was present in the gallery. Numerous film stars, industrialists and various other political leaders were present.

13 new faces have been inducted in the cabinet.  A total of 12 members including Jayalalithaa were already present in the ministry and four women ministers were also part of it.

Now, mass swearing in of other ministers of the cabinet is going on. 28 ministers have taken charge alongside Amma to serve Tamil  Nadu for 5 years.

The swearing-in ceremony is about to start. Jayalalithaa has reached the auditorium and is currently exchanging pleasentries with her party members,

Tight security has been placed near the university where the swearing in will take place.  LED TV screens and loud speakers have been placed outside for the public to witness the function. The ceremony will also be relayed live in all the districts via mobile vans. 

When Jaya became the CM for the first time, she took oath place in the same place.
