Now with J&K and Ladakh becoming two new UTs, take a look at laws that are repealed and new laws that will now be applicable in these two separate union territories.
Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are now officially two separate Union Territories after the bifurcation of the state of J&K, nearly three months after the Modi government took the historic decision to abrogate Article 370.
While Jammu and Kashmir will have its own elected legislature and government, presided over by the appointed Lieutenant-Governor, more or less like the Delhi and Puducherry models, Ladakh will be one without a legislature.
Earlier today, GC Murmu, a former bureaucrat from PM Modi’s home state of Gujarat, sworn in as the first lieutenant governor of the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Radha Krishna Mathur, took oath as the first Lieutenant-Governor of Ladakh.
