The Indian Air Force's Apache helicopter made an emergency landing in the fields of Budhawar village in Punjab's Hoshiarpur district following a technical glitch, according to military officials.

The helicopter took off from the Pathankot base.

The helicopter landed safely with no damage inflicted on it. The pilots onboard--Flight Lieutenant Anoop and Flight Lieutenant Rajat --are safe.

"The attack choppers are based out of the Pathankot airbase and this chopper had taken off from there. The Air Force will check the helicopter and then take it back to its base. The pilots are safe," the Air Force said.

The Apache helicopter was inducted last year at the Pathankot airbase.

The helicopter landed safely with no damage inflicted on it. The pilots on board--Flight Lieutenant Anoop and Flight Lieutenant Rajat --are safe.

It was first developed by  Hughes Helicopters to replace the AH-1 Cobra of the US Air Force in the 1970s. The US Army approved its full production in 1982 and was introduced in the US army service in 1986.

The helicopter is fitted with target acquisition and night vision systems and is armed with an M230 chain gun that would make enemies run for cover.

It is also equipped with Hydra 70 rocket pods.
