Bengaluru, on March 5, witnessed a very luxurious wedding worth around Rs 500 crore, of Karnataka Health Minister B Sreeramulu's daughter Rakshita.

The wedding celebrations are supposed to go on for nine days starting from March 5 (today). It took place on a 40-acre area in palace grounds.

Many Kannada film artists came to congratulate the bride and groom, among may other government dignitaries who attended the event.  

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was supposed to grace the event, along with Home Minister Amit Shah, but they couldn't attend the event for reasons unknown.

The extensive wedding rituals and the decorations for the wedding have cast a cloud of doubt over the overall spending on the wedding, with a tax evasion complain already registered against the state health minister.

“It is reported that he has spent a lakh just on invitation cards distributed in Ballari. The pre-wedding rituals are already raising doubts over Sreeramulu’s spending. The income tax department issues public interest advertisements in the media about verifying deposits over Rs 2.5 lakh made into a bank account. When the general public is being checked for such a small amount, why isn’t the I-T department verifying the source of Sreeramulu’s income? They aren’t taking action probably because several high profile individuals have been invited,” the complainant Narasimha Murthy told Bangalore Mirror.

Reportedly, the complainant asked I-T department officials to be present at the venue to assess the approximate cost and taxable amount.

However, Sriramalu has denied the allegation. “My daughter’s wedding is being conducted in a simple and traditional way. All reports published and broadcast by the media are false. I have helped a few friends in the past who are now helping me with the wedding preparations. I am not paying for any of it. They are doing it out of love,” he told Bangalore Mirror.

Whatever be the case, Rakshita and his husband Lalith Sanjeev Reddy looked stunning as they went through the wedding proceedings.
