The weather department has predicted that Mumbai will continue to receive heavy rainfall throughout the day.
Mumbai, which has been witnessing severe spells of rain in the past two days, will be receiving more rainfall on Sunday, the IMD has predicted.
Intense spells of rain very are likely to continue with gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph in the districts of Mumbai, Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg.
Due to continuous heavy rains, there is accumulation of water between Ambernath and Badlapur and on harbour line at Chunabhatti. Therefore, rail traffic has been suspended beyond Ambernath and on Harbour line between Vadala and Kurla.
Streets are waterlogged near JJ Hospital in Nagpada following heavy rainfall in the city.
Meanwhile, water has started getting accumulated at Andheri subway, Malad subway, Vile Parle and Sion region. A high tide of up to 4.83 meter is expected to hit at 2:23 pm.

Due to continuous rains, Mumbai's Bandra east is completely waterlogged.
A village in Mumbai' Thane has also submerged in water. There at least 35 people saved their lives by climbing on a tree. Now the government is preparing to airlift those stranded.
Latest on local train services
Suburban services on trans harbour and 4th corridor up to Kharkopar are running uninterrupted throughout the day. Thane-Kalyan up and down slow services have resumed since 11:15 pm.
Meanwhile, Mumbai's Santacruz has so far received 2374.2 mm of rainfall and has crossed the seasonal total of 2317.1 mm. With the sluggish onset in June, monsoon had been very active over Mumbai and in the entire country during July and so far in August. This is is likely to continue.

Rainfall to continue with gusty winds. High-tide of 4.5 meter expected in the afternoon (today) and surcharged Mithi River. The department has also asked citizens to avoid outing as far as possible since the sea will be rough. Also, fishermen are too advised not to take risks.

Central Railways: Due to very very intense rainfall throughout, there is accumulation of water in different sections of Central Railway Suburban section of Mumbai. Railways reviewing situation in every 30 minutes.

1. Heavy to very heavy rainfall in city, suburbs today
According to the IMD, Mumbaikars will continue to face intermittent rain or showers with heavy to very heavy fall in city and suburbs. Extremely heavy falls also likely at isolated places.
Meanwhile, with overnight rainfall in the city, the Milan subway of Santa Cruz area has already started facing water-logging issues.
