Several tasks can be done simultaneously: Sushil Modi on oppn criticism for watching movie when state is battling floods

Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Modi after being criticised for watching a movie at a time when the state is facing severe floods, clarified and said "several works can be done simultaneously. We are helping flood-affected people and doing all the arrangements."

"I have been abused for watching the movie 'Super 30'. Today also an English channel was showing 'when the state is flooded, Deputy Chief Minister is watching a film'. Several works can be done at one time, we are helping flood-affected people and doing all the arrangements," he said.

Earlier in the day, Jan Adhikar Party chief and former MP Pappu Yadav had said, "Sushil Modi is watching movies and meeting actors, while Bihar is in trouble and people are dying, they are tweeting over cricket."

Pappu Yadav said this while speaking to media after reaching out to protesting contractual teachers who were demanding salaries on par with regular permanent teachers working in various government schools after they were lathicharged in Patna.

Yadav said that police could have used water cannons and arrested them (teachers) as per law but they lathi-charged them, women got injured. 

Bihar Police resorted to lathicharge, using tear gas and water cannon on those participating in the protest organised by contractual Teachers Coordination Committee of Bihar who were demanding salaries on par with regular permanent teachers working in various government schools in the state.

The protesting teachers pelted stones and threw sticks at the police personnel, they also broke down the main gate of the Gardanibagh protest area.

Pappu Yadav also came down strongly against both the Centre and the Bihar government stating that both were indifferent to the issues faced by people and instead would come up with "something new" such as Pulwama to gain votes.

"I feel they know that they will keep doing something new every four-five months, like Pulwama and keep getting votes," he said.
