In a freak accident on Wednesday, 12 passengers of Navjeevan Express sustained serious injuries when the train met with a minor accident with a parked truck near Bhumel village crossing between Anand and Nadiad.

On Wednesday evening, the train arrived at Anand station and headed towards Nadiad, where it was scheduled to arrive by 6.05pm. After passing Kanjari-Boriyavi station, the train struck a truck near Bhumel railway crossing, which was parked in line with the railway track. When the accident happened, the truck was being loaded with scrap near the track. Due to the proximity of the two, some compartments scraped the parked truck, injuring those who were either hanging on the train's door or had kept their hands outside the window.

According to railway sources, five passengers were seriously injured on their legs and hands. They were rushed to Nadiad Civil Hospital for treatment. For his negligence, the railway police arrested the truck driver.
