A total of 15 activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthy Parishad (ABVP) were injured in a clash with police, who resorted to lathi charge to quell them as they tried to demonstrate before the main gates of Bihar assembly against the government's decision to set up a unit of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) at Kishanganj.
Hundreds of ABVP activists assembled near the secretariat police station and tried to break the iron fence to march towards the assembly, police said.
They turned violent when they were disallowed and indulged in brickbatting. As the situation went out of control and some policemen were injured, police weilded the stick to disperse them.
Later, more than 25 ABVP men were taken into custody in connection with the clash, sources added.
The incident was raked up by several BJP members in the state legislative council and the chairman of the house Tarakant Jha asked the deputy leader of the house Ganga Prasad to discuss with the state government for a solution.
